Couples and Tunnels

I've been AWOL for a little bit recently, mainly due to working more than usual as well as visiting Liverpool and London, which is why the blog's been light on updates.

I've still been watching as many films as I can but I just haven't had the time to put together a decent, thorough review for any of them. I'll try my best to get some finished and published soon.
My main priority right now is working on making a post that ranks every film I've watched from 2013. I've got a list of films that I feel like I need to watch and add to my ranking before I publish it, but I'm excited to put that together.

On top of that I really want to take part in Sati's awesome Spin-Off blogathon, and Ben over at The Movie Man has been kind enough to nominate my blog for the Liebster Award so I need to post my response to that and pass on my nominations.

Gremlins and Other Worlds

I'm going to see Bastille in Manchester tonight!!!
(I'm very excited!)

- Did everybody see my boyf on the cover of Empire this week?! This is seriously one of the best covers that magazine has ever had and it's all for my most anticipated film of the summer.
- Speaking of the giant-radioactive beastie, he got an incredible new trailer. The voice-over dialogue from Bryan Cranston is just incredible and is making me so so so excited for this to come out. Plus, we get a good ol' look at his mug at the end of the trailer and he's looking awesome! May cannot come soon enough.
- The trailer has also managed to become the subject of my absolute favourite cross-over photo set on Tumblr right now. This shit is hilarious and brilliant.
- I'm now on season 4 of Breaking Bad, I'm absolutely hooked and getting anxious that there's not actually much left before I've finished it for good.
- I've finally watched every film up for Best Picture on Sunday. It's taken me far too long to get around to it, and I'm worried I won't have chance to get them all reviewed before I start forgetting everything I want to say about each of them, but I've at least seen them all.
- Lupita absolutely killed me in 12 Years A Slave. If JLaw wins over her for Supporting Actress I'm going to rage.

List #27 | Films That Make Me Cry

The next list to make it into my Listography series is a collection of the films that have managed to break me down and make me cry. As I've gotten older I've found that the number of films that bring me to tears seems to have lessened considerably so the list of films that have made me actually cry isn't a very long one.

For now, here are the biggest offenders.

Black and Green

- So this week I finally started watching Breaking Bad, I've already made my way through Season 1 and I'm loving it.
- The second trailer for Maleficent got released, and my fears that the fairies would become little CGI creations has happened. I hope that they spend the majority of the film normal sized because this one already looks like it's going to have to much CGI.
- Joe Wright's Captain Hook origin film Pan has got Garrett Hedlund in the lead role. Peter Pan's my favourite children's story // Disney film, and I've never been sold on any live action versions but having an actor that I actually quite like as Hook is a promising start.
- Lily Rabe smacking the sh*t out of Emma Roberts in American Horror Story this week is my favourite January moment by far. It also slightly makes up for how completely awful Glee has been this season, so thank you Ryan Murphy.
- Speaking of Glee, I've seen a few photo's getting tweeted showing that Chace Crawford is going to turn up soon, and Kristen Chenoweth and Gwyneth Paltrow are returning. I really hope having some good support characters will make the show bait more bearable. Although if the writing continues to stay as bad as it has been it's going to be really hard to hold out for the last season.
- As well as Justin Bieber getting acknowledged as the douche that he is in a courtroom, this happened. You can't unsee something like that.

The 100

For the last two-or-so months I've been flirting with the idea of putting together a top 100 list. I'd attempted this in the past and failed each time but after spending some time recently talking on here about some of my favourite films I felt that the blog would benefit from having a permanent list, and so this week I have spent most of my time out of work putting one together.

I present, The 100.

I have to stress that this is in no way definitive, each day that I spent working on this list a number of the entries lost and regained their places and it is partly due to this that I also decided not to try and order them. All of the films chosen are personal favourites or films that made me fall in love with cinema, but with every new film I watch there is obviously a chance that a new film could earn a spot. If I do alter the list at any point I will address the changes in my weekly pins post.

I would never attempt to create a list of the best films made, simply because I have not seen every film ever made. This list is just a collection of some of my favourites with an obvious bit of quality control applied as well. There are countless films that I still wish were in there (no films by the Coen's made the cut for example, simply because I haven't seen them recently enough to weigh them up against the others, and I struggled to choose many of Wes Anderson's films over one another) but for now, this is my 100.

As I love all of these films I'm always up for talking about them so be sure to comment here or on the list's page to let me know whether you agree with my choices, disagree with them, or even hate them.

Witches and Kisses

I have to apologize for the lack of content I've been putting up on here recently, life and work have caught up with me and left me with less time than I expected to get quality posts on here. I'm working to finish off my 30 Days of Horror series and get some reviews up here too. I promise that I'll try and get back to posting regularly as soon as I can.

Today's weekly pins post is a little different as I've recently ventured off to the dark side and started using my Tumblr account. This is a collection of images I've blogged throughout my first week on there.

I'll be adding a button for my Tumblr account in the sidebar very soon, but until then you can find my Tumblr here and my Pinterest here.
