Wild Ones and Pink Ladies

- Guardians of the Galaxy looks alright. I enjoyed the focus on Chris Pratt, he definitely looks like he'll carry the film easily and make sure the comedy is done well. Plus there's this.
- The raccoon doesn't look as ridiculous as I thought either, but I haven't watched any of the features on the characters yet so I can't comment on whether Bradley Cooper's vocal contribution sells it or not.
- Godzilla got a new poster. It's not as good as the others but they set a pretty high standard from the get go with the marketing. I'm too excited for this film.
- Speaking of excitement, The Amazing Spider-Man 2 has been getting trailers and pictures and posters released by the boat-load. I still think it looks fantastic, and I hope that I'm proven right.
- I love love love the news about casting for Josh Trank's reboot of Fantastic 4. Some serious talent fleshing out this film and I'm excited to see how it all plays out.
- I also love that fans are still hating on the cast. They clearly don't give a crap about how talented actors are, they just have to look identical to their comic counterparts, and that has been really frustrating me lately.
- I finally got around to seeing The Wolf of Wall Street, and was blown away. Expect a review sometime next week while I try and work my way through the last few nominees I still haven't seen.

Ghostface and the Last Supper

- So Maleficent got yet another new trailer that showcased Lana Del Rey's beautiful version of Once Upon A Dream. It's perfect and I love it. I fell asleep on Monday with it playing on repeat and when I woke up I'd listened to it 123 times, so I may have been hypnotised into loving it.
- Empire's new issue has 25 different covers showcasing the whole cast of Days of Future Past, and they look terrible. Whoever designed these really needs to resign because some of these are seriously the ugliest costumes I've seen. They're worse than the Bat-nipple fiasco.
- I mean look at Evan Peters. What is that?!
- American Horror Story's third season finished this week. It was my favourite season so far and the finale did not disappoint. It actually reminded me of the Buffy finale, which was nice.
- People on Tumblr have noticed how the dresses that the actresses wore for the Emmy's indicated their fates in the show, which was brilliant.
- Rumours for season four have been floating around recently and suggesting that there may be a 1950's  Circus setting. I absolutely love that idea, if only because I'm actually pretty scared of the Circus and clowns in particular, so it would surely be the scariest season so far for me.
- I'm still no closer to working my way through the Oscar nominees so February's going to be a busy month.

Frances Ha

Frances Ha
Noah Baumbach // 2012 // 93 mins

Greta Gerwig not only secures, but revels in in her position as possibly the most important indie-darling working today with Frances Ha; a film that celebrates the actresses quirky nature and builds a film around it.

The House Of The Devil

Films about Cults. I have a shaky history with films about Cults. I saw the remake of The Wicker Man a few years back and hated it. I saw the original Wicker Man this year and didn't feel much more. I've seen enough horror films that have started promising and then played the 'twist' cult card for the final act to last me a lifetime. Outside of Rosemary's Baby and Martha Marcy May Marlene I have never enjoyed the depiction of cults in cinema. Outside of Rosemary's Baby and Martha Marcy May Marlene a filmic cult has never managed to scare me even slightly. For these reasons it was at least partially refreshing to see a film open with a title card proclaiming that it would eventually enter cult territory, a warning if you will, allowing me to brace for the inevitable moment where someone gets tied up and bled on.
